MONIKER ART FAIR LONDON

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

We just arrived back in LA from a trip over to London for the Moniker Art Fair at Village Underground in Shoreditch. The fair ran over the weekend from the 13th – 16th October and showcased some awesome art from around the world….we were so stoked to be a part of the fair this year!

We had a couple of new paintings and were given a project space to use and create an installation in. For this installation we tried to do something a little different to past ones, and work on a much bigger scale with the individual elements. We where really happy with the finished product of our space, and had a blast working on another big installation.

“SUNSET…SUNRISE” NEW2 SOLO SHOW MANNHEIM GERMANY JAN 6

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

From the mid 80’s onward NEW2 has always been truly dedicated to mastering the art form of letters and style.
As a young kid growing up on the Belgrave train line in Melbourne I was blown away by the dedication and work of the infamous DMA CREW.
New2 and his old partner TAME in particular!
They both took the Melbourne graffiti scene to the next level. Inspiring many others to follow behind them!
Still going strong, NEW2 works on mastering his craft even further.
His work just seems to get fresher and fresher.

For those souls lucky enough to be in Germany in the next couple weeks, Be sure to catch his new solo exhibition “SUNSET…SUNRISE”.
Large works as well as smaller super intricate collages including an old Hitachi Train (with panel) all from hand cut paper!
NEW2 …STILL LARGE!!

Long Live the Yellowfin

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

One of our favorite people to paint walls with has got to be Greg CRAOLA Simkins!
When ever we all paint together we just have such a great time..and usually come out with a really interesting end result!
For a while now we have been talking with Greg about trying out a character wall where we used spray paint..but also tried out adding acrylic paint and brush work.
Myself and Greg are from a pretty similar era in Graffiti, both starting in the early to mid 90’s.(Greg maybe a little earlier!)
And even though Greg is from LA and we where in Melbourne, there was definitely the same vibe that Graffiti writers dont use brushes!
It was always viewed as bad form, so its something that none of us have ever really tried.
But its a new millennium now…and rules dont apply!
It was really great to take a lot of elements that the 3 of us would use in graffiti with spray paint..but then balance that out with the elements that we all use in our paintings with brushes.
Really happy with the outcome….hope to do a lot more of it in the future.
Big thanks to the LA Freewalls Project for hooking us up with a super smooth spot in Downtown LA!

LA Freewalls…Downtown LA!!!

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Last week we had a great day painting this fun wall in Downtown LA as a part of the LA Freewalls. We were truly honored to have joined the prestigious lineup which already features the likes of Shepard Fairey, Saber, D*Face, Nomade, Atlas, Asylm and Andy Rios.  The LA Freewalls is a special project curated by Lahoda Finearts and Jetset Graffiti. Over 50,000 sq ft of wall has been dedicated to this project making it the largest street art gallery in the world. Jetset Graffiti is putting together a short video of us painting the wall, along with a short interview in our studio which was disturbed briefly by an earthquake! We will make sure we post the video as soon as its ready!!!

dabsmyla

A lot of the time when we explain to people what we do and how we work they say... "Man..you work together, and you are a couple! I'd end up killing my girlfriend/boyfriend if we collaborated on everything we did!" I guess we are pretty lucky...two peas in a pod! Two crazy, work-a-holic, mad dorks in a pod! After years of living, painting walls and working together we have only become closer, stronger and even more in sync. Every day we wake up, paint all day...and keep each other entertained with constant chatter and stupid jokes. Who could ask for more out of life!! We are both originally from Melbourne Australia, but have been living and working in LA, soaking up the sun and chaos that surrounds us.
