Julian Opie at SCAI Bath House in Tokyo

I was lucky to catch the tail end of Julian Opie’s portrait exhibition at SCAI in Tokyo. The show featured a series of portraits, walk cycles, subtle animations and holographic prints reflecting a Rambranteque style of portraiture. The essence of which are lost in still photos but i tried my best to capture the animations, thank you Yuka for letting me go nuts with the g10 in the gallery.

Holographic portrait. the pose changes slightly from different angles. Nice effect.
Framed animated walk sequence.

Animated painting, rotoscoped birds flying in the background and occasional eye blinking.

November break bumpers for Finlands TV Nelonen by Musata, a design company directed by Jopsu Ramu and Timo Huhtala. This piece is a collaboration with tokyo designer Shun Kawakami, calligrapher Gen Miyamura and motion graphics company EDP graphics work.
