FAME FESTIVAL ~ ITALY

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

On Saturday, Grottaglii, Italy, a town traditionally famous for its ceramics, gained notoriety for arts as the site of The Fame Festival.

Essentially, the premise of the festival is a douzen dope, sleep deprived artists from around the world, painting on everything they can get their hands on in the leading months while hanging out with the locals, enjoying the cultural landscape of the city. This is all followed up by a show summarizing the work at Studiocromie gallery.

DAVE KINSEY (USA) /CONOR HARRINGTON (IRELAND) / BLU (ITALY) / ETHOS (BRAZIL) / JR (FRANCE) / EINE (U.K / ABOVE (USA) / ERICA IL CANE (ITALY) / MANTIS (U.K.) / MICROBO (ITALY) / BO130 (ITALY) / LUCY MCLAUCHLAN (U.K.) / SICKBOY (U.K) / WILL BARRAS (U.K.).

Here are some of the results of the Festival, check the Fame Festivals blog for the stories behind each of these pieces.blogblu.jpg

Far & Away ~ Nior ~ No Vacancy Gallery ~ Thursday 2nd Oct

FAR AND AWAY.
No Vacancy Gallery Presents: Far & Away.
New Works by Melbourne Artists Nior.

Nior has been working as an artist for 4 years, and no Vacancy would like to present his first ever solo show.

Nior (formaly known as Junior) has been creating art ever since he can remember.
Born in the hills of Melbourne, Nior‘s characters are influenced by the native creatures he sees everyday and what he finds in his imagination. He began putting his artwork around the streets in 2004 and since then he has refined his characters and transformed them into many hairy shapes and sizes.

As his first show, Far and Away will be an introduction to the styles that he has developed working on the streets and for numerous group shows over the past 4 years.

I wanna give props.

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I wanna give props to the Everfresh Crew. Thanks again for having us down on Friday.

I was thinking about your studio over the weekend, how it’s a hive of creativity, how some of the best artwork and ideas on the planet are conceived in a studio in this very city, by artists who live and breathe Melbourne.

The statements being made (like the one above) about “Banning the Can” are on point, and I wanna give props to Everfresh for flying the flag. All of you have contributed so much to Melbourne, whether it be with your talent, and most importantly, positive contributions and attitude.

So many people take your work for granted.

Whether it be photography by tourists, photography by locals, work being published uncredited in tourism documents and on the telly… we know it’s downright plagiarism, keep your heads up, we support you.

I urge all of you reading this to get the Everfresh Blog in your daily feeds and support Melbourne’s biggest asset.

PEACE.

HEADS UP ~ SHEONE AND MEGGS ~ LIVE PAINTING SHOW

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Thanks to Red Bull, the U.K artist, designer, graffer,  famous for his highly stylized letter form SheOne will be coming to Australia for the No Comply Melbourne exhibition, so we’ve teamed him up with local lad Meggs for a live painting show the night after the launch.

SheOne and Meggs will be  live painting at the yet to be named new venue near Victoria market in Melbourne city, for what will be a dope exhibition of the two artists styles and a huge party.

More news, NSW show, ect, later.

08sept_fixed_viollet.jpg

02sept_fixed_viollet.jpg

Whether you love or hate this fixed gear “fixocalypse”, you can’t go past this blog, 2V. Two dudes, Cedrik & Viktor, team up with Eastpak to deliver one of the better photo projects I’ve seen in a long, long time.

High contrast B&W, clever use of fish-eye lenses and quality compositions.

After being in a city for 10 years, you sometimes lose your inspiration to shoot, however it’s photography like this that inspires me to pick up my cameras and shoot all weekend. I’m gonna be staring at these all day. Big ups.

Sniffed out at trackosaurus rex.
