JUSTIN LEE WILLIAMS ANDREW GORDON @ NO VACANCY
Justin Lee Williams & Andrew Gordon: I never said that I was brave! [20th August 2008]
2 Amazing artists come together and create one amazing exhibition, with similiar concepts and creations both artists have produced some incredible pieces for the show.
Justin and Andrew spent the days leading up to the show’s opening painting No Vacancy’s never ending white walls with a sort of adlib combination of both their styles. Both artists drove in each night from their respective far away homes, country and beach, and spent their hours with paint, cans, wine and brushes preparing a background to host the 40 odd pieces they have collectively created.
“I never said that I was brave!” is an exhibition of work by Justin Lee Williams and Andrew Gordon. Both artists gain inspiration from the solitude of their surrounds, Justin in the mountains outside of Melbourne and Andrew on the coast of Southern Victoria.
Justin combines areas of great detail with bold colour to express his thoughts on the relationship between living creatures and the earth. While Andrew uses childhood memories to create candid ideas about human interaction.
“I never said that I was brave!” will feature acrylic and water colour paintings, drawings and animations by both artists as well as limited edition prints and zines.
