The future of Australias internet.
I’m more than a little anxious about Prime Minister Kevin Rudd push to censor the internet, the move could lay the round work for the severe mediocratisation one of only media that hasn’t yet been overrun by stupidity and spell the end of Net Neutrality for Australians.
The failure to stop the forewarned Anoymous protest campaign attack, highlighted how incompetent the professionals being hired to administer this new legislation really are.
Anonymous proved that people will be able to get around the censorship just as easily as it was for them to shut down the PM’s website, meaning porn and piracy will be just as prevalent.
Censorship is never the solution. It’s sad that Australia is being held back by bureaucratic paper shufflers like Rudd who don’t have a lick of charisma or vision and are really failing to keep up with the times.
I came across this post yesterday which i think summarized the points surrounding this issue and is well worth checking out.
Don’t Be Dirty, Why Internet censorship is about more than pornography. By Samuel Webster.
Some good points about the ineffectiveness of censorship as well as the dangers of a loss of Net Neutrality.
