BULLS EYE

August 29th, 2008 by Koan

Red Bulls policy of fostering development of the arts while keeping a low, low profile means that they are one of the  most overlooked contributors to the development of Australia’s arts culture.

But with amazing projects such as the Red Bull Music Academy launching the careers of the likes of Flying Lotus and countless others, the BCONE events as well as Red Bulls support of the local arts community, over the years RB has build up a strong family of artists and designers.

In order to promote these artists to other members of the RB community, on the sly as always RB has launched Bulls Eye. A series of remixed logo’s by artists adorning the monthly slabs sent out to the friends of Red Bull as well as bio information a about the artists, this project is aimed at bringing the far corners of the RB creative community a little closer while spreading the word about the talent brewing in Australia.

The end result is 5 dope remixes of the Red bull logo by the likes of;

BLU AROUND EUROPE, GOING BIG

August 27th, 2008 by Koan

Since the debut of his short movie, Blu’s been keeping his good self nice and busy with a series of pieces around Europe, these are taken from his blog.

To me this is the epitome of street art, large as physically possible, commentary that falls under the category of “pisstake”  instead of “political”, unique style with a strong emphasis on interacting with the environment. Putting the check list away the main point is that its really mad, so enjoy.

Ignore it please …if you can !

August 27th, 2008 by Miss G

The artist known as  “Ignore Por Favor ” , which means ” Ignore it please”,  created a new serie of paintings called “Privacy Invasion – Orkut Victims”, consisting in taking photos from friends on his orkut network and painting them with spray on canvas, with such an incredible quality and realism that I have no words to describe, see it for yourselves !!!

Like that wouldn´t be enough he also produced videos of the whole process, each one with a different and great soundtrack, complementing and making even more beautiful his masterpieces.

This is one of my favorites, he painted a very talented artist and personnal friend, Yusk.

PHIBS @ CHINA HEIGHTS ~ FRIDAY 5TH SEPT

August 23rd, 2008 by Koan

Melbourneʼs esteemed quality of graffiti and street art can be tracked to the influence and tutelage of one prolific artist. Phibs. Initially raised in county New South Wales before moving to the city of Sydney, Phibs relocated to Melbourne due to its strong support in the local arts community and the increased opportunities for emerging artists.

Originating from a traditional graffiti background, Phibs endeavors to promote the value of the art-form through outlets such as ommissioned murals, youth workshops, exhibitions, and theatrical productions. His remarkably detailed murals can be seen around the inner city suburbs of Fitzroy and Collingwood as well as throughout the city itself.

Whilst Phibsʼ signature is his intricate, almost stencil-like, delineated lines and ʻcut-backʼ methods, his work is visibly influenced by the art nd mythology of many cultures, both ancient and modern. Highly regarded amongst his peers, he continues to exhibit in elbourne and interstate galleries, and has been represented at numerous festivals throughout the country.

Phibs has another show in the works that will be launching on Friday 5th of September down at China Heights in Sydney. Check the flyer, remember the date, more news soon.
