I’m very excited to invite you to my third Melbourne solo exhibition “Black Linings” which will be held in No Vacancy Gallery this coming 24th of March 2011.
“Black Linings is a new collection of work inspired by small yet symbolic creatures. The insignificant suddenly transforms into the iconic in these works as Drewfunk’s use of line and repetition creates a narrative about unity”. Michael peck.
This was a very interesting commission i got before the beginning of 2011.
While i was painting the piece which took about 6 days to complete, i had dramas with counsel, cops & corporates passing by and telling me off.
End of the day i got praised by all of the above. But after a week i got a phone call saying that the piece was sand blasted off by the council / train station.
The reason was because the agreement of the project was not granted properly by both client and council, oh well.. i got paid anyway.
Enjoy the pictures.
Check it out if you are around Adelaide on that date.
Finished a private courtyard commission mural about a week ago near in Malvern.
It belongs to a beautiful couple that loves cheese and traveling.
The piece was inspired by a line from japanese poet, Matsuo Basho – “Every day is a journey and the journey itself is home”.

I’m currently doing a personally piece on Errol Street, in North Melbourne on a beautiful red brick wall building.
Inspired by my trip to Northern New South Whales, It’s titled Kampung (which means village in Malay)
Will be completed by the end of the week.

Fellow Artist & friend from the Blender Studio is having a solo show in Sydney,
Do check it out if you’re around Sydney on the 20th of October, his work is amazing.
Malaysian born Illustrator/Artist Drewfunk now resides in Melbourne after deciding to quit his full-time job as a designer to live his passion. He draws his inspirations from the city streets whilst staying true to his oriental heritage and has been known to have an aerosol addiction.
