I think Gothic Futurism is best described as the Kabbalah of graffiti, the esoteric assignment of defensive, offensive and metaphysical elements to letters within a composition theorized by the brilliantly abstract mind and popularized by the equally charismatic spirit of one late Ramallzee. Who passed away yesterday. This is a good opportunity for everyone to read up on him and his work. Thanks Kano for introducing me to his work so many years ago.

Trusto vs. MBW

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Playing out in a way that’s reminiscent to the recent Banksy v Robbo beef. TrustoCorp a group of New York based artists have declared war against the conceptual art project / actual artist Mr Brainwash in retaliation to MBW’s recent New York promotional campaign leading to his latest show in the city.

Say what you will about Mr Brainwash, but in many ways he’s the martyr savior of street art. By encapsulating mostly everything that sucks about street art, the repetition, the thoughtlessness, the shameless self promotions, the tackiness, the abuse of pop culture references and the favor of the lowest common denominator and then allowing himself to be lead so easily to the slaughter, he’s become the scape goat that allows the world to wipe the slate clean and give it another shot.

MBW’s friendly retaliation.

Warhols moon penis

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

No doubt about it, above all else, this is Warhols greatest contribution to mankind.

In 1969 with help of an engineer going under the name John F; Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, David Novros and John Chamberlain secretly snuck a miniature ceramic chip featuring artwork onto Apollo 12.

The first extra planetary exhibition was covert and what’s more Warhol did what we would all probably lose a few nights sleep struggling with before doing, he went and drew a cock.

Like most of Warhol’s work, the execution may be crumby, but the idea speaks for us all.
