Last Thursday night saw the opening of the biggest paste-up manifestation Australia, if not the world, has ever seen — Paste Modernism 2 at Sydney’s LO-FI Collective . Curated by Ben Frost and Bridge Stehli and presented by Stupid Krap, the space over the course of a few days transformed into an incredible mash up of wheat pasted art, what could be best described as a “visual overload”. There were over thirty contributing artists from Australia and abroad, ranging from the emerging to the more established players in the scene. Below is some pics from the opening night, courtesy of John Lampard and you can see more on his flickr. To check the original Paste Modernism part 1, where it all started go here . enjoy.

Newcastle’s This Is Not Art (TINA) festival is an annual event now in it’s thirteenth year! This year I was asked to be involved in walkARTbout along with several other artists, each designated wall space in the city to do their thing. TINA 2010 is special because it is the first year an actual street art component (well legal, anyway) has been added to the event program. This is somewhat surprising when you learn that the the festivals namesake is derived from the infamous (well, if you are from Newcastle) graffiti which once graced the then derelict Latec House.
Organizers in previous years had struggled to incorporate “street art” into the event with opposition from local townsfolk, business and council. This was mainly due to many misconceptions, fear and probably for the most part ignorance. Come 2010 however, attitudes have shifted and the addition of walkARTbout has been welcomed and the overall response has been a positive one, so much so, it will be a permanent fixture in the TINA program for years to come. Full credit and a special thanks must go to Festival Coordinator Simone Sheridan, walkARTbout Curator Carli Hyland and the rest of the TINA 2010 team.

I made such a great decision to go to the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. They had a show on called “Sensing Nature” which was many high-grade installations by some of the top conceptual artists from Japan including Yoshioka Tokyujin, Shinodo Taro & Kuribayashi Takashi. It was incredible. Check my website for more flicks from the exhibition.

After a recent abduction, hijacking of brain and reinsertion of freqon technology, Harley’s mind now grapples with an onslaught of the subconscious kind. Twisted images of buildings crumbling upon themselves enter his dream world along with other unwanted guests.
This episode was bought to you by the letter T – for tripppppppy. I tried to go about this episode with very unconventional approach. Not that Nawlz has much in the way of a conventional approach as it is. But. usually I do have a bit of a plan. Not this time. NO! This time all plans were thrown out the window as I drew, animated and programmed all at once. I wanted to see where it would take me. Ultimately this experimental approach, resulted in me putting my own brain through the blender as I tried to figure out what the hell I was doing. Alas, it seems to have turned out alright. And the bugs are dead. Or are they? Fuck, I hope they are. Those goddamn bugs. They were feeding on my mind!
BIG THANKS to Duncan Gates for his genius programming skills. Remember that scene where all those people grind together in a grimey mess… that was Dunc! Nice one! Also thanks to Jordan King as per usual for his skin wrenching sounds. I highly recommend putting the head phones on and blasting your ears off! Go get Nawlzy people! http://www.nawlz.com

Beastman (Brad Eastman) is an artist, designer and photographer based in Sydney, Australia. Using acrylic, ink and aerosol he produces intricately detailed artworks depicting a geometric, parallel world of scaly skinned, bold outlined, beast-like characters gripped by fear, anger, stress, jealousy, lust, confusion and paranoia. Years of skateboarding has strongly influenced Beastman's characters, concepts and unique style, developed over many years of drawing in sketchbooks and shooting photos. Heraldry, symmetry, patterns, geometry, family, friendship, nature, the ocean, violence, spirits and the afterlife are all themes which are becoming more and more evident in his artwork.
