Highlights from the massive and Villain Toy Show currently on display at No Vacancy Melbourne. The show stars a series of customs based on a new figure designed and produced by Melbourne artist Claudio Mantuano, amongst the usual collection of Qee’s, Trexi’s and all other crap that people customize for these shows. The sheer creativity and craftmanship of this show sets it apart.
Claudio’s work seen here in mighty bronze.

Alphabet was the last show of the year from Monster Children gallery, a gathering of associated artists working their way through the alphabet which launched last night to the usual shinanigans despite the miserableness of the weather.

No Comply is on its way to Sydney as i type, being driven by a twitchy courier who looks like he hasn’t slept in weeks and will be Setup in the Red Bull Gallery, a mad space indeed, the interior of two giant silos with a specially designed glass reception, great lighting and a private bar.
The Sydney show launches next Friday (the 12th) at 6pm with the usual deal, food, drink and music, i think Pritchard will be DJing or Lorna. Also we’re in luck a couple of other shows around the area promises to weed the crowd out, so it’s looking like it’ll be a good party.
Some art…. see more along with bios of the artists at www.nocomply.com.au
enjoy.
Greyscales is a culmination of 10 months work during which over 400 blades have been blunted through the hand cutting of each stencilled piece. The black and white artworks all possess a distinct Melbournian undertone with a strong graffiti influence through the depiction of crowds, streets, lanes, buildings and trains, including collaborations with Aeon, Shem, Dvate and Deam.
The result is Kirpy’s first solo exhibition.
Villain puts on a show to round up the year, featuring a massive lineup of artists customising everything from Munnys, Teddy Troopers and Coin Ups to a blank by Melbournes’ own Mad Scientist of low brow Claudio Mantuano.
As well as all the custom toy goodies there will be artwork and prints by many of the artists.

With the Sydney show of our No Comply exhibition launching in just under 2 weeks, we have a last minute addition to the lineup, Sydney artists Paul Davies, Ed Woodley, the always dope U.K artist French as well as the amazing talent of artist and designer Luca Ionescu.
The show, complete with the additional artwork will be launching on Friday the 12th of December at the new Red Bull HQ at 2 Huntly St Alexandria. Displayed from within the bowels of two giant silo’s. Should be good.
